About the School.

The Manjughoksha Academy was established in 1995 by a group of like-minded teachers who saw a need for establishing a school for Tibetans and others who have a close cultural and religious link with the Tibetans.

*** Specific educational directives:
>>> The medium of education is English right from the start
>>> The standard of education is comparable to any of the best public schools in Nepal and India
>>> The Tibetan language and related cultural activities are central to the school's educational emphasis

Although many of Nepal's public schools provide a good education, few teach the Tibetan language. The cultural aspects of Tibet are neglected completely. At the "Tibetan" schools where language and cultural aspects are kept alive; the standard of education in general is poor. One of the biggest challenges facing parents wanting a good education for their children is the necessity to send the children to India for schooling. Costs are high and admission policies add to the difficulty of getting students enrolled. Besides that, the Tibetan language is not part of the curriculum in Indian and Nepali public and government schools.

The Manjughoksha Academy has been established to offer a high standard of modern education at affordable fees with a focus on Tibetan language and culture by including studies on the Tibetan language, traditional songs and dances and daily reminders in the form of recitations of Buddhist texts. H. H. the Dalai Lama has always advised us about the importance of keeping one’s language, dharma and culture alive, and as such we realize that the future of the Tibetan culture, language and traditions are the responsibility of the children of today and that it is our responsibility to provide them the structure within the curriculum to assure its survival. Our goal is to provide these children the opportunity to learn and prosper and to return to their roots with the ability to raise future generations in a free and humane world.
